Parenteral iron is used for iron deficiency anemia when oral iron is inadequate or not tolerated. Ferric gluconate (Ferrlecit): 62.5 mg/mL (12.5 mg elemental Fe/mL) (5 mL); contains benzyl alcohol and sucrose.
