Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin. Capsules: 250, 500, 750 mg. Tablets: 250, 500 mg. Oral suspension: 125 mg/5 mL, 250 mg/5 mL (100, 200 mL). Administer doses on an empty stomach, 2 hr before or 1 hr after meals. Use with caution in renal insufficiency and in patients with penicillin allergy (cross-reactivity possible).
