Cefotaxime is a third-generation cephalosporin. Injection: 1, 2 g vials; each gram contains ~2.2 mEq sodium. Use with caution in penicillin-allergic patients and in renal impairment (reduce dosage; see Chapter 31). Good CNS penetration.
