Theophylline is a methylxanthine bronchodilator used in the treatment of neonatal apnea and bronchospasm associated with asthma and other reversible obstructive airway diseases. It is available as immediate-release oral elixir/solution (80 mg/15 mL) and various sustained/extended-release tablets and capsules (e.g., Theo-24).
