Rizatriptan benzoate is a selective serotonin (5-HT1B/1D) receptor agonist (triptan) used for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura. It is not indicated for migraine prophylaxis. Formulations include standard oral tablets (5, 10 mg) and orally disintegrating tablets (ODT) 5 and 10 mg (Maxalt-MLT and generics), which contain aspartame.
